Choice of weapon: in view of the fact that the bush tends to get rough on the guns, the sturdy repeater is still your best choice. Regarding the choice of calibre the 7 mm (30-60) is the required minimum. African game is known to be extremely bullet resistant. Best results have been achieved with calibres such as 8x68s, 9.3×62, 9.3×64,.375 H&H, .300 Win.Mag and .338.Mag. Since firing distances as a rule range from 60 to 150 meters (65/160 yards), speed is of secondary importance. It is essential toland as much bullet at the target as possible. For the hunting of the Big Five (the exception here being the leopard), a minimum calibre of .375 H&H is required.
If you prefer to avoid the time-consuming customs declaration, as well as the risk of damage to your gun while in transit, we have at your disposal loan weapons. You can choose from the following calibres: 30-06, .300 Win. Mag, 9.3×62 and .375 H&H. Rifles can be rented per day and ammunition will be charged per round.
When it comes to bow hunting, we highly recommend fixed blade broadheads with carbon fiber arrows. Take note that the big 5 should not be hunted with a bow, this includes leopards. However, all other Namibian plains game species can be hunted with a bow.
